How Teach Rex Supports Cross-Curricular Learning in Primary Schools

Here’s how Teach Rex brings cross-curricular learning to life

English: Expanding Vocabulary and Encouraging Creative Writing

Science: Dinosaurs, Evolution, and the Natural World

Science is embedded in the heart of every Teach Rex experience, especially in the Dinosaur and Animal Workshops. Children are introduced to key concepts in an engaging, memorable way.

Workshops support:

  • Understanding animal types, diets, and habitats
  • Exploring body structures, movement, and adaptations
  • Learning about extinction, evolution, and fossil evidence

For many pupils, it’s the first time they’ve experienced science ‘in action’ – and it stays with them.

ICT & Digital Literacy: Green Screen and iPad Creativity

Green screen sessions are a central part of every Teach Rex workshop. They provide a hands-on introduction to digital storytelling that excites and engages pupils of all ages.

Children work with iPads and green screen technology to create their own content, whether they’re responding to a dinosaur encounter, recording a dragon-themed scene, or capturing a moment from one of the baby animal stories.

Workshops support:

  • Planning and creating short digital videos
  • Developing basic editing and storytelling skills
  • Working collaboratively on creative tech projects

These experiences help build pupils’ digital literacy and confidence with technology, while encouraging creativity and teamwork. For many schools, it’s an inspiring way to bring computing objectives to life in a practical, memorable format.

Art, DT, Music and Creative Learning

Teach Rex sessions often inspire creative work that continues well beyond the workshop. Schools frequently build on the themes through cross-curricular art, design, music and storytelling projects.

Workshops inspire:

  • Drawing and designing dragons, dinosaurs, or habitats
  • Constructing dens and landscapes in DT
  • Adding music or sound effects to green-screen videos
  • Creating posters or visual projects linked to sustainability

These hands-on tasks allow children to explore the workshop themes from different angles, reinforcing their learning in fun and imaginative ways.

More Than Teaching

Designed by Teachers, Delivered with Passion

Every Teach Rex experience is written and delivered by former primary school teachers, ensuring it’s not only educationally sound but also tailored to real classroom needs. Each session:

  • Links to national curriculum objectives across multiple subjects
  • Is adapted to suit year groups from EYFS to Year 6
  • Comes with pre-visit materials and post-visit extension tasks
