At Teach Rex, we believe that a love of learning begins at an early age, which is why we are constantly developing new ways to expand our reach and deliver our unique learning opportunities to a greater range of children. With our new dinosaur workshop, carefully tailored to meet the needs of Early Years Foundation Stage children, we have done just that.
We understand that fully-grown dinosaurs can be a little scary for younger kids, but with the latest additions to the Teach Rex family, that needn’t be a problem.
We’re pleased to announce the arrival of an entire clutch of baby dinosaurs, each one more adorable than the last. These diminutive dinosaurs have allowed us to develop a whole new series of workshops aimed at Nursery and EYFS-level children. Designed to enhance their learning experience, our baby dinosaur workshops give children the opportunity to explore exciting new concepts in a fun and safe environment..
We are teachers ourselves, so we know how important it is for EYFS children to maintain a regular school day routine. The last thing we want to do is disrupt your carefully designed timetable. We are flexible with our EYFS Dinosaur Workshops and are happy to adjust any aspect of the sessions if it will help meet the specific needs of your Nursery and EYFS classes. We will work closely with you ahead of our visit to ensure our workshops are structured to make the best use of the children’s time.
We are happy to partner with Teachers Pet, one of the UK’s leading providers of learning resources. Through them, we can offer a wide selection of learning resources, each designed to meet specific Early Years Learning Goals. All resources are unique to Teach Rex and Teachers Pet and link directly to our Ideas Pack and our Continuous Provision box. With these wonderful resources, we ensure our visit has a strong educational purpose.
Children will have a chance to meet a range of different dinosaurs, all of which are unique and have their own personalities. Our EYFS Dinosaur Workshop has been designed and developed by experienced EYFS practitioners, with each session focusing on personal, social, and emotional development. While they get to know their new dinosaur friends, we use effective questioning to explore different emotions and feelings with the children.
This is a fantastic way for the children to have a fun record of the day they spent with dinosaurs. We work in groups, taking still pictures against our green screen and making and editing movies. This lets us transport the children to a primeval jungle when dinosaurs roamed the land. After spending time with our baby dinosaurs and getting to know their individual personalities, we give the children the opportunity to choose their favourite and explain the reason why. At the end of the workshop, they will be allowed to handle their favourite dinosaur and get photographic evidence of the special moment.
We comply with all GDPR guidelines when taking photographs and making videos with the children. All shots and footage are edited on-site by a member of our team and securely forwarded to your teaching staff before we leave. All photos and videos will be deleted for the safety and security of your children.
From the very start of our EYFS Dinosaur Workshops, the younger children are encouraged to interact with our larger dinosaur, Jam. This once-in-a-lifetime experience will take place in a relaxed and safe atmosphere, and we will use the morning sessions to prepare the children for the occasion. This includes getting them comfortable with our smaller dinosaurs and our team of trained and experienced education professionals.
