What happens during a Teach Rex dinosaur workshop?
Teach Rex delivers three interactive dinosaur workshops. 'Meet Jam' is a science-focused session with Jam, our four-metre dinosaur, designed to get children of all ages thinking scientifically. The Green Screen workshop expands vocabulary and encourages children to verbally discuss ideas that transfer into writing, using a green screen to ignite their imaginations. The Baby Dinosaurs workshop lets children meet a range of dinosaurs with different personalities and focuses on personal, social and emotional development.
What is the 'Meet Jam' workshop?
Meet Jam is our science-focused workshop built around Jam, a four-metre dinosaur. It discusses the evolution of science and why it is so important to ask the question 'why' , and is designed to get children of all ages thinking scientifically.
Do you run dinosaur workshops for EYFS and Early Years?
Yes. We run EYFS dinosaur workshops alongside our primary school sessions, and we welcome children from the age of one upwards. The Baby Dinosaurs workshop suits younger children in particular, focusing on personal, social and emotional development as they meet dinosaurs with different personalities. Early Years sessions run for 20 to 30 minutes.
Can Teach Rex come to our school?

Do the workshops link to the curriculum, and do you provide teacher resources?
Yes. Our workshops are built around curriculum aims across science, literacy and personal, social and emotional development, and we provide Curriculum Idea Packs to help teachers extend the learning around our visit. The packs are cross-curricular planning materials spanning art, design and technology, and science, and they set out broad learning outcomes that teachers can choose from to cover exactly what they need.
What age groups are the workshops suitable for?
Our workshops are designed for children of all ages, from EYFS through the primary years, and are suitable for any year group. Group sizes vary by session: the Green Screen workshop can accommodate up to 200 children.
How long does a Teach Rex dinosaur workshop last?
Session length depends on the setting. Nursery sessions run for 20 to 30 minutes, school sessions run for 50 minutes, and event sessions run for 90 minutes.
How much does a Teach Rex dinosaur workshop cost?

How much space is needed, and can the workshops run indoors?
The Baby Dinosaurs workshop can take place in the classroom. Our larger workshops need enough room for the four-metre dinosaur, Jam, to move safely: space for a dinosaur four metres long, two metres high and eight metres wide, with around 2.5 metres of clearance around it. In practice this means a school hall is the ideal setting.
