At Teach Rex, we are always looking for ways to expand our reach, providing more educational opportunities to more children across the country. With our new workshop, specially-tailored for Early Years Foundation Stage children, that’s exactly what we have done.
We’re pleased to announce the arrival of new baby dragons to the Teach Rex family. These have given us the opportunity to create a brand-new series of workshops to enhance the learning experience for younger children. Our baby dragons allow the children to explore exciting new concepts that we have not approached in previous workshops. After the success of the Nursey and EYFS Dinosaur Workshops, it was only right that the baby dragons made an appearance too!
We understand that our bigger dragons can be a little daunting for younger children without building blocks in place to support them – with our latest arrivals, that’s no longer a problem.
We are teachers ourselves, so we understand that every school has its own way of working. Likewise, we know just how important a regular routine is, especially for the youngest members of the school. We are happy to adjust any aspect of our EYFS workshops to meet the demands of your Nursery and EYFS provisions. We will spend time with you ahead of our visit, structuring the day to make best use of our time in your school.
We have partnered with the incredible team at Teachers Pet, through whom we are able to offer a wide selection of learning resources. These are unique to Teach Rex and Teachers Pet and include display content and other resources that can be used in your classroom. All these resources are designed to meet the Early Years Learning Goals, ensuring our visit has a strong educational purpose.
One thing we have learnt through the successes of teaching in EYFS is the power of storytelling. Children will become emersed in a magical book that includes numerous stories. Each story includes a different dragon that the children will meet, interact with and support emotionally. This workshop has been created by EYFS practitioners and focusses on personal, social and emotional development. Through effective questioning we will explore different feelings and emotions with the children.
This is a fantastic way to evidence the children’s day with the dragons. We work in groups to edit, make movies, and take still pictures of the children against the green screen. Using this technology, it allows us to transport the children to the mountains, long ago, where dragons roamed the world and become a part of the stories they were told earlier in the day. After meeting the dragons and getting to know their personalities, the children will be given the chance to choose their favourite and pose for a photograph.
All photographs and videos will be edited on the day by a member of the team and sent to the teaching staff before the team leave. Everything will then be deleted following GDPR guidelines.
From the start, we have encouraged younger children to interact with our larger dragons, this is something we intend to continue. This will take place in a relaxed atmosphere, and we will be able to prepare the children throughout the morning, getting them more comfortable with our presence and the baby dragons. Through the power of storytelling, we are able to create an emotional attachment between the children and dragons before the big reveal. This story is finished on a cliff hanger, providing the children the opportunity to continue the magic and verbally finish the story themselves.
If you have any concerns or queries about your EYFS children meeting our larger dragons, please let us know and will talk you through the process. At Teach Rex, we create an environment in which our stories and dragons will bring smiles instead of screams.

Meeting with baby dragons are just one of the options for your EYFS classes. We also offer a baby dinosaur workshop, where the children get to interact with some of the smallest (and cutest) members of the Teach Rex family. These workshops explore feelings and emotions in a way that your Early Years Foundation Stage groups can understand and enjoy.
